Sarah Beth Pottery: Sapphire Ridge

This series was created out of necessity! I have always had a hard time throwing away or letting go of sub-par pots, so I just keep them all! My ever growing stack was overflowing and I decided to make the most of it. Each one of these pieces started with a pot that I couldn't sell due to imperfections, and I smashed them up and made new art out of them! Kin to a mosaic, I think these pieces have lots of character, and definitely a fun story behind them. I used countless materials in each piece from packets of silicone beads from new shoe boxes to old patterns cut up and glued down to add texture. No two alike, that's for sure!

My current line of work focuses movement and texture. I am heavily influenced by my surroundings and Springtime is so inspiring with much to offer! From the blossoming plants to the textures that appear in the landscape, I have an endless supply of material! I have been exploring mixing mediums and finding unique ways to combine clay and other materials, while keeping the elements of design in mind.
